hlcc_staff_HalidaHalida's Cultural Centre's founder, Halida, was a student at Beijing People University when some foreign students approached her asking for Chinese lessons. After graduation Halida started teaching in other small schools while she kept tutoring expats as a part time job. She soon discovered that she was able to connect with students and help them understand concepts in ways that other teachers were unable to.

As the year progressed more and more students contacted her until eventually tutoring became Halida’s full time job. At some point, Halida met a student that was living at the River Garden villa compound. She was introduced to more students and as time went on, the size of the study sessions grew to include more and more people.

In the past years Halida has built herself a solid reputation in the area. Most of her classes are now group classes that number from six to eight students. She has also developed other types of courses that include English lessons for expats' employees. During these past years Halida also met other teachers that provided all sorts of Chinese culture related classes for expats in Beijing.

In 2005 she decided to set up an official company to provide foreigners living in the Shunyi area with a community center where they can have access to all kind of culture related activities.
